I left WT because they took away our Lord and wouldn't say where they placed Him.

Languages, Dialects, Accents
by LoveUniHateExams injust though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.
first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.
red, arrow, break.

Thank you.
I recognized some of the Arabic words because, years ago, I spent a little time with the Nation of Islam.
Interesting, too, is that different suffixes are used for male and female.

Question about a kingdom Ministry
by new boy indoes any one remember a km back in the nineteen sixties that stated at the very top "only x (number of months left) before 1975 arrives".
question?
what was the number of months in this statement?

The Society never said that outright, they merely hinted at it.
Semantics.
Theocratic Warfare.
ROFL.

90 months is 7 and 1\2 years.
March 1968 to September 1975 is 7 and 1\2 years.
Out of their own mouths they are convicted.

Change of the 2 Baptismal Questions Soon?
by The Fall Guy inq1 - on the basis of the sacrifice of jesus christ, have you dedicated yourself to god & the governing body?.
q2 - do you understand that your dedication and baptism as one of jehovah's witnesses identifies your belief the wtbts's literature is equal in authority with the bible?
having answered yes to these questions, candidates are in a right heart condition sufficiently brain-dead to undergo christian jw.borg baptism..

I was invited to address The Presbyterians at their church
by Giordano inso i was asked to give a presentation at the oxford forum which is sponsored by a local presbyterian church.
it's a very old church founded in 1758. it's way out in a rural area and if your interested here is their web site.. for a quick look at a beautiful setting: http://www.oxfordchurchlex.org/ yes this image is eye candy but up close the architectural detailing is pretty impressive............ there is no way you are going to confuse this church with a jehovah's witness soon to be closed kingdom hall.. the pastor told me that they would have 15 to 20 people attending my presentation about the jw life and beliefs.
it would start at 10am and end at 10:50. he would open the meeting with a brief prayer and welcome.

Any information about an apostate from the 30s?
by paradiseseeker inhere in spain we have just had a special visit from the central branch representative (well i'm not sure what his position is) and in his talk he mentioned an episode in which an apostate and his supporters were expelled from bethel in the early 30s under rutherford's rule.
i didn't catch the name, it was something like "shutter" or "shulter".
this event was mentioned to bring attention to a woman who was very close to this apostate and just because of that she was unfairly expelled from bethel as well, but she was "humble" and "content" enough to leave the matter on jehovah's hands and she was reaccepted in bethel after a while.
